modeling large bending tower structure

I am trying to run a static simulation of a large bending tower assembled out of hundreds of smaller pieces.

The model was built in solidworks, but I am having trouble meshing it in comsol. I tried using the livelink (which is pretty slow because the model is big) and the assembly file import (also slow).

When I try to mesh the tower, I get an internal error in boundary respecting error. I've tried remeshing with a finer mesh, meshing only certain domains at a time, splitting the geometry up, and I keep getting the same error.

I then tried using the remove small faces to try and simplify the geometry a bit, but if I do that the boolean operation fails. I tried messing a bit with the various tolerances but that hasn't helped.

I would really appreciate some advice on how to proceed with this meshing. I've attached the solidworks assembly file, you can just direct import it or use livelink.
