This course is for professionals interested in solving heat transfer problems using COMSOL Multiphysics. You will have the opportunity to work on several hands-on problems covering heat transfer in solids and fluids that involve conduction, convection, radiation and phase change. We will also touch upon special topics such as heat transfer in biological tissue, porous media and high aspect ratio structures such as pipes. The course will also cover multiphysics problems involving heat transfer such as electromagnetic heating and thermal expansion. Hands-on problem solving is complemented with discussion on relevant theory and best practices for successfully and efficiently setting up heat transfer simulations.

Supratik Datta holds a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from University of Maryland, College Park. He has been involved in research related to cryogenics in biomedical application, damage detection in composites, phase transformation in ferrous alloys and design and non-linear modeling of smart structures. He has received awards from AIAA and ASME for his work on magnetostrictive materials. He is currently working as the Applications Manager in COMSOL, Inc., Palo Alto.
This course assumes some familiarity with the basic concepts of transport phenomena, especially heat transfer and fluid dynamics. We strongly recommend that those new to COMSOL Multiphysics take the COMSOL Multiphysics Intensive Training course prior to attending this class.
The hours for all COMSOL courses are from 9:00am to 5:00pm; please plan to check in between 8:30am and 9:00am. Lunch and refreshments during the morning and afternoon breaks are included.
